Dubai: India started their ICC U-19 World Cup title defence on winning note as they registered 40 runs victory over arch-rivals Pakistan in their first match of the tournament.
Deepak Hooda picked up five-wicket haul (5-41) as defending champions bowled out Pakistan for 222 in 48.4 overs.
Openers Sami Aslam and Imam-ul-Haq gave Pakistan a rollicking start with their century stand but the middle order batsmen failed to capitalise in front of the disciplined Indian bowling.
Earlier, Sanju Samson (68) and Sarfaraz Khan (74) stitched 119-run partnership for the fifth wicket to help India revived from early blows and posted 262/7 in 50 overs at the Dubai International Stadium.
