South Africa v India, 2nd Test, Durban

India Fights for Save Durban Test

Durban: India were 68/2 with Pujara (32 not out) and Kohli (11 not out) at the crease before bad light ended Day 4 early. India still trail by 98 runs with eight wickets in hand.

Robin Peterson scalped Shikhar Dhawan just after India crossed 50-mark in their second innings to give visitors 2nd blow in their second innings.

Faf du Plessis took a stunning catch to send back Dhawan (19) reducing India to 53/2 after South Africa were bowled out for 500 with 166-run lead.

Dhawan and Cheteshwar Pujara took Indian score past 50 after losing Murali Vijay early.

Vernon Philander got Vijay caught at slip to give India early blow at the score of just 8.

Philander's swing got Vijay's edge and went straight to the hand of Graeme Smith at first slip.

Earlier, Ravindra Jadeja finished with 6 for 138 as South Africa were bowled out for 500.

India removed Faf du Plessis and Morne Morkel in quick succession, as game resumed in the final session, to bowl out South Africa for 500.

While Plessis missed his half-century and got run out Morkel was caught and bowled by Ravindra Jadeja, who finished with a figure of 6-138.

South Africa were 497 for eight when rain forced an early tea.

Kallis made 115, his 45th Test century. A sixth wicket partnership of 86 with nightwatchman Dale Steyn (44) was achieved with largely cautious batting but set the foundation for a batting assault by Faf du Plessis and Robin Peterson after lunch.

Du Plessis and Peterson hammered 102 runs in the 14.1 overs of play that was possible between lunch and tea.

Peterson was particularly aggressive, hitting 61 off 52 balls before he was caught going for a big hit just after rain started falling.

The umpires took the players off the field before next batsman Vernon Philander could face a ball. Du Plessis was on 41 not out.

Kallis is second on the all-time list of Test century-makers behind Sachin Tendulkar, who hit 51 hundreds before retiring at the end of India's series against the West Indies last month.

He moved into third place on the Test run-scorers list on 13289, one run ahead of India's Rahul Dravid and behind only Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting of Australia.

Kallis is the first batsman to score a century in his final Test before retirement since Nasser Hussain hit 103 not out for England against New Zealand at Lord's in May 2003 and announced his retirement after the match.
