Pallekele: Heavy rain forced the first Twenty20 international between New Zealand and Sri Lanka to be abandoned without a ball being bowled in Pallekele on Tuesday.
The stands were empty at the Pallekele International Stadium as bad weather ensured the covers were still in place at the scheduled toss time of 6.30pm (1300 GMT).
The second match is also scheduled to be played in Pallekele on Thursday. The preceding one-day series was shared 1-1 with one match rained off.
