Rohit scored second successive Test century in as many Tests and shared valuable 80-run stand with Mohammed Shami for the last wicket to take India lead past 300.
Rohit unbeaten 111 runs knock was studded with 11 fours and three sixes.
Rohit hold the one end firmly while the wickets were kept falling from the other end. Shami supported Sharma well with his rock solid defence to help the local boy reach the landmark.
India lost their ninth wicket when Pragyan Ojha was run out by a direct hit by Kieran Powell from deep mid-wicket.
Captain Darren Sammy became the first West Indian to take five catches in an innings when he grabbed an edge to dismiss Bhuvneshwar Kumar off Shane Shillingford in the first over after tea.

Ashwin looked to pull delivery it came in a touch quicker and he top-edged it as it went high up in the air. Gabriel ran in and took a comfortable catch.
Tino Best made the second new ball count by dismissing Indian captain MS Dhoni.
Best struck in the first over with the second new ball by having Dhoni caught by his counterpart Darren Sammy at second slip.
Shane Shillingford took his fourth wicket when he grabbed an easy return catch to dismiss centurion Cheteshwar Pujara.
Pujara hit 113 runs before getting a leading edge on a Shillingford delivery that was accepted gleefully by the spinner.
Pujara reached his fifth Test century soon after the dismissal of Virat Kohli.

Pujara and Kohli stretched the Indian lead to 100 runs at the end of the first session. Pujara looked rock solid as ever and survived a close call a few overs before lunch. India scored 125 runs in the session.
West Indies captain Darren Sammy took a good catch at first slip to dismiss Sachin Tendulkar for 74 runs off Narsingh Deonarine.
Deonarine bowled a flatter delivery outside off and Tendulkar tried to cut it fine, but it bounced extra and the thick edge went quickly towards Sammy at first slip, who took a good catch in front of his face as Tendulkar walked off the field to a thunderous applause and a standing ovation.
Tendulkar was middling almost everything this morning and played quite aggressively, putting away the bad balls and good ones too on occasions. However, Deonarine proved to be the man with the golden arm for the Windies.
Tendulkar's knock was studded with 12 boundaries and he added 144 runs with Cheteshwar Pujara for the third wicket.
Pujara reached his fourth Test fifty soon after Tendulkar brought up his 68th Test half-century with a trademark straight drive off Tino Best.
This was the 119th time that Tendulkar crossed the 50-run mark in Test cricket - the most by any batsman in Test cricket history.
