Mumbai: India's tour of South Africa is very much on, as far as the Indian cricket board is concerned. In the words of a senior BCCI official, "It is now for Cricket South Africa (CSA) to clear its mess and give the schedule a final go-ahead."
The ball that BCCI had been kicking around till now is now in CSA's court. Much to its added headache of having to save what was turning out to be a loss of "handsome revenue", the South African board has to now deal internally with the future of Haroon Lorgat and its legal adviser David Becker and then get back to its Indian counterpart.
The two boards will officially sign on the dotted line this week once the formalities concerning Lorgat and Becker are attended to.
The series, as per the initial schedule mentioned in ICC's Future Tours Program (FTP), was worth a little more than Rs 200 crore as per industry estimates. However, now with the itinerary being revised, the overall figure may get reduced. "But it is still worth more than Rs 150 crore," said a TV industry source in the know of things.
