Brathwaite Make India 'A' Bowlers Toil

Shimoga: West Indies 'A' gave another strong account of their batting as they reached a strong 283-6 on Day 1 of their second unofficial Test against India 'A'.

Kraigg Brathwaite (82, 202b, 13x4) and Asad Fudadin (63, 107b, 7x4), and their fourth-wicket stand of 117 was the key contributor to their score.

The cricket ground owned by the Jawaharlal Nehru National College of Engineering in Shimoga, Karnataka, had a rare brush with international cricket stars with this four-day game.

India 'A', led by Cheteshwar Pujara, has experienced players like Zaheer Khan, Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir, all of whom are in a bid to return to the senior team.

India had lost the first Test in Mysore by 162 runs.

Electing to bat, West Indies began steadily with an opening stand of 55 between Brathwaite and Kieron Powell but India struck back with three quick wickets in the noon session.

Zaheer had Narsingh Deonarine LBW young left-arm spinner Bhargav Bhatt had dismissed Powell and Kirk Edwards.

Bhatt finished the day with three wickets. Mohammad Shami tilted things in India's favour when he had wicketkeeper batsman Chadwick Walton caught behind late in the day.
