Chandigarh: Handed defeats in their opening matches, Brisbane Heat and Titans will look to put behind the disappointment and make quick amends when they face each other in their Champions League Twenty 20 match on Tuesday.
While Brisbane lost to Trinidad & Tobago by 25 runs, Titans slumped to a four-wicket defeat against Chennai Super Kings. Come Tuesday, the two teams will be desperate to put some points on the board.
The depleted Australian outfit, which failed miserably with the bat in the last game against T&T, will be expecting its batsmen to show more responsibility.
Chasing a modest 136-run target, Brisbane were bundled out for a meagre 110 with only opener Joe Burns scoring a valuable 43-ball 45.
Brisbane would hope that captain James Hopes, who has a plenty of international experience and having also captained IPL side Delhi Daredevils, give them a solid start along with Burns against the Titans.
Besides, all-rounder Dan Christian will also have to carry the batting burden. Christian, though could not make a mark in the previous match, has been the trump card for Brisbane for the past two seasons and their chances in the tournament may rest on his shoulders.
Chris Lynn, the big-hitting middle-order batsman, is another player who can make an impact. He is one of the brightest T20 talents around the world and has the experience of playing in IPL -- for Deccan Chargers and Sunrisers Hyderabad -- as well as in Sri Lankan Twenty20 league.
The bowling unit did well as it contained T&T to 135 for nine with pacer Alister McDermott claiming four for 37.
Brisbane also have Caribbean import Kemar Roach. Even the 31-year-old off-break bowler Nathan Hauritz can be dangerous on his day.
Titans, on the other hand, displayed a superb batting with AB de Villiers's hurricane 36-ball 77 and skipper Henry Davids' responsible 52 paving the way for Titans' challenging 185 for five against home favourites Chennai Super Kings last night in Ranchi.
And although Titans lost the match, they would hope their batsmen repeat the feat against Brisbane tomorrow.
The Titans are capable enough of overcoming any side in the tournament as they showed during their debut appearance, when they narrowly lost in the semifinals to eventual champions Sydney Sixers.
The team would rely on South African pacer Morne Morkel and de Villiers for their valuable experience of the subcontinental conditions to go the distance in this cash-rich league.
De Villiers' capability to bat anywhere in the batting order will be a great asset for the side besides attacking capabilities of captain Henry Davids.
The team also have experienced campaigners like Roelof van der Merwe, Jacques Rudolph and Ethy Mbhalati.
