Pune: Chasing a stiff 173, Delhi Daredevils were restricted to just 134/9, allowing Pune Warriors to avoid basement finish in the cash rich league, at the Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium.
Ali Murtaza and Angelo Mathews did maximum damage to the Daredevils claiming three wickets each.
Wayne Parnell gave Delhi first blow in the third over by getting David Warner caught behind by Uthappa at the score of 17.
Though Delhi lost David Warner in the third over, their scoring rate remained impressive.
However, triple-strike by Murtaza put Delhi's chase off track and slowed down their run rate.
He first got Delhi skipper Mahela Jayawardene (14) caught by Luke Wright at the score of 40 in the fifth over.
In the eighth over, the spinner trapped Bharat Chipli leg before after getting Virender Sehwag caught by Gomez to reduce the visitors to 55/4.
Ben Rohrer (7) was the fifth man to fall at the score of 64. He was bowled out by paceman Ashok Dinda at the score of 64.
Though, CM Gautam and Irfan Pathan offered some resistance, Mathews didn't let them go to far.
Earlier, fiery knocks by skipper Aaron Finch and Luke Wright guided Pune Warriors to a massive 172/5 against Delhi Daredevils in their final IPL clash.
While Finch scored a quickfire 52 off 34 balls (three boundaries and four sixes), Wright made 44 in 23 balls.
Robin Uthappa and Angelo Mathews chipped in with 24 and 30 not out respectively.
Wright and Mathews shared 72 run partnership in 37 balls for the fifth wicket, before Wright was dismissed by Siddharth Kaul in the final over, helping the side set a challenging target for the visitors.
