Bangalore Beat Delhi in Super Over

Bangloore: Royal Challengers Bangalore made a mess of a simple chase before beating Delhi Daredevils in the Super Over in a thrilling match here on Tuesday.

RCB got 15 in the Super Over, thanks to two towering sixes by AB de Villiers off the final two balls from Umesh Yadav. Delhi's reply was undone quickly when David Warner was dismissed off Ravi Rampaul's first delivery. The visitors could ultimately manage 11 in the Super Over.

RCB were cruising towards victory but managed to infuse life into a dead match by some unbelievably inept batting. Needing 153 for a win, RCB were 129 for two and the fans were already celebrating in the stands. An incredible slump, though, saw the hosts lose wicket after wicket as they ended up at 152 for seven, leading to the Super Over.

Earlier, the big-hitting Daredevils openers - Virender Sehwag and David Warner — looked set to produce a hurricane after they guided their side to 42 for no loss after five overs. However, the visitors' charge fizzled out a bit thanks to tight bowling by RCB in the middle overs before a late surge from Kedar Jadhav and Irfan Pathan saw them post a competitive 152/5.

Asked to bat first after losing the toss, DD began encouragingly after Ravi Rampaul's tight opening over as Warner welcomed RP Singh with two cracking boundaries through the covers.

Carted for 15 runs in his first over, RP's Chennai horror show threatened a sequel and he was promptly taken off in favour of Jaydev Unadkat. However, the lanky paceman proved expensive too, leaking 13 runs as Sehwag showed glimpses of his old self by smashing three exquisite boundaries.

Subsequently, skipper Jayawardene lost partners at the other end but steadied the ship before being run out.

Earlier, Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and elected to bowl against Delhi Daredevils in their IPL clash at the M Chinnaswamy stadium on Tuesday.

Delhi have brought back Ashish Nehra and roped in Ben Rohrer. Bangalore on the other hand included Andrew McDonald and Jaidev Unadkat.
