Mumbai Move on Top With Big Win

Mubmai: Mitchell Johnson picked 3 wickets to rattle the Pune side during their chase as Mumbai climbed to the top of the table with a big 41 run win.

Mumbai continued their winning streak as they won the third match in a row to lead the points table.

Mitchell Johnson was the pick of the bowler, taking three wickets for 33 to help Mumbai clinch an emphatic victory.

Mitchell Marsh made the outside chance for Warriors with his fine cameo as he smashed two fours and as many sixes in his 38 run knock.

Kieron Pollard removed Yuvraj to end Pune's hopes of making a comeback in the match.

Tirumalasetti Suman tried to revive struggling Pune's innings as he made quick-fire 23 off 15 balls before Harbhajan Singh removed him at the score of 38.

Mumbai Indians pacer Mitchell Johnson rocked Pune Warriors India's chase by striking in his successive overs.

Chasing 184-run target, Pune Warriors suffered the first blow on the first ball of the innings Aaron Finch got clean bowled on fast inswinger by Johnson.

It was more trouble for Pune in the next over when Ross Taylor was involved in a huge mix up with Robin Uthappa and got run-out.

Johnson struck again in his next over to pile misery on Pune, removing Uthappa to leave Warriors tottering at 13/3 in 2.3 overs.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma unbeaten 62 and Sachin Tendulkar's 44 helped Mumbai Indians to post a massive 184-run target for Pune.

Rohit and Kieron Pollard added unbeaten 68-run stand in just 29 balls to power Mumbai to 183/3 in 20 overs. Pollard smacked a four and six in his unbeaten 19 run knock.

Rohit, who notched up 30-ball fifty, slammed second successive half-century with the help of five huge sixes and three fours.

Mitchell Marsh struck to give Pune Warriors India a huge breakthrough by removing Mumbai Indians' in-form Dinesh Karthik.

Karthik continued his red-hot form as he added 55-run stand for the third wicket with Rohit Sharma to lead Mumbai's charge. The wicketkeeper batsman again became the orange cap holder by surpassing RCB's skipper Virat Kohli.

Mumbai Indians lost Ricky Ponting and Sachin Tendulkar in quick succession after the openers shared 54-run stand to lay the good foundation for the hosts.

Yuvraj Singh gave Pune Warriors India much needed breakthrough by dismissing Ricky Ponting. Yuvraj struck on the first delivery of his first over to get rid of MI skipper.

Mumbai Indians suffered massive blow in the next over when Aaron Finch struck to end Sachin's flamboyant knock of 44 from 29 balls studded with seven fours and a six.

Sachin and Ponting hammered flurry of boundaries to give Mumbai Indians blistering start. Tendulkar finally found his form, smashing four boundaries on the trot off Ashok Dinda to provide Mumbai early momentum.

Earlier, Mumbai Indians skipper Ricky Ponting have won the toss and decided to bat first against Pune Warriors at Wankhede Stadium on Saturday.

Both sides are unchanged.
