India Back to No. 1 Spot in ODIs

Dubai: Mahendra Singh Dhoni has done it again. After leading India to the pinnacle of Test rankings, in December 2009, the Indian skipper achieved the same in ODIs.

Thanks to the hosts' seven-wicket win which came at the skipper's home town in Ranchi in the third ODI on Saturday, following their 127-run win at Kochi, the world champions are No. 1 in the ODI rankings with 119 points.

Their current opponents, England, are No. 2 with 118 points.

Even before the series had begun, there was a keen tussle for the No. 1 ranking. India were placed third and England were second behind South Africa.

India lost the first ODI at Rajkot though, which took England to the No. 1 spot ahead of South Africa.

After the Kochi defeat, England and South Africa swapped positions on the rankings table.

But South Africa's defeat to New Zealand by one wicket and India's wins over England, has seen plenty of movement in the table, much to the joy of Indian fans.

India were ranked No. 1 for a brief period during a Tri-series in Sri Lanka in September 2009.
