Kohli and Bowlers Take India Easy Win

Ranchi: After a solid effort with the ball, bowling out England for a paltry 155. India made short work of the reply by chasing down the total in the 29th over in the third ODI at the newly built JSCA Stadium in Ranchi.

Virat Kohli top scored with 77 hammered eight boundaries in his 22nd ODI fifty. He also completed his 4000 ODI runs in 96 matches.

India lost their second wicket in the form of Gautam Gambhir when James Tredwell struck to remove the southpaw who made 33 off 53 balls with the help of four boundaries.

Gambhir and Virat Kohli took India past 50-run mark to resurrect Indian innings after losing Ajinkya Rahane early.

Earlier, a disciplined Indian bowling attack put on a brilliant display to bowl out England for 155 runs.

A strong performance by Indian bowlers saw England lose wickets at regular intervals. All the six bowlers used by MS Dhoni took a wicket each.

Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja wrapped up the England innings when they dismissed Steven Finn (3) and Jade Dernbach (0) respectively.

After a brief resistance, Joe Root(39) and Tim Bresnan (25) went back in quick succession leaving England struggling at 145/8.

While R Ashwin got rid of Bresnan Ishant Sharma dismissed Joe Root. The duo shared 47-run stand for the seventh wicket.

Ravindra Jadeja dismissed both Craig Kieswetter and Samit Patel in same over to leave England reeling at 98/6 in 25 overs.

Jadeja first bowled out Kieswetter and then trapped Patel leg before wickets. Both batsmen failed to get off the mark.

The double blow came just after off-spinner R Ashwin got rid ofEoin Morgan.

Earlier, India pacer removed England's top order.

Pacer Shami Ahmed gave India first breakthrough by trapping England skipper Alastair Cook leg before wickets after a slow start.

Cook scored 17 and shared 24-run stand with Ian Bell for the first wicket before falling to Shami in the eighth over.

Ishant Sharma claimed his first victim of the series by scalping Kevin Pietersen after a steady stand for the second wicket.

Came to bat after the dismissal of Alastair Cook, Pietersen tried to accelerate the scoring rate with few boundaries.

However, Ishant didn't allow him to go long and got him caught behind.

Young sensation Bhuvneshwar Kumar then sent back opener Ian Bell leave England three down for 68 in 15 overs.

Bell made 25 after facing 43 deliveries.
