Rain Ruins Game Between T&T and Uva

Johannesburg: The inconsequential qualifying match of the Champions League Twenty20 between Trinidad and Tobago and Uva Next was on Thursday called off due to wet ground conditions.

The Pool 2 qualifying match was abandoned after heavy rains disrupted play for approximately an hour at the Wanderers with Uva losing Dilshan Munaweera in the first ball of the innings in pursuit of 182.

Even though the skies cleared up and weather conditions improved after an hours down pour, the organisers decided to call off the inconsequential game as both Trinidad and Uva are out of the reckoning for a place in the main draw.

With two wins from as many games, English side Yorkshire has already sealed their place in the main draw of the Twenty20 event from Pool 2.

Earlier, sent into bat, Trinidad rode on unbeaten half centuries from Darren Bravo and skipper Denesh Ramdin to post a challenging 181 for three in their allotted 20 overs.

While Bravo scored his 54 off 42 deliveries with the help of nine fours, Ramdin played just 31 balls en route to his 50-run knock, which was studded with six hits to the fence and one over it.
